Philippines Travel Ban Expanded to Include Taiwan

The Philippines has extended its existing temporary travel ban to include Taiwan. The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) released a statement dated February 10, 2020 clarifying CAB order dated February 2, 2020, implementing the travel ban directive of the Philippine president.

As of today, February 14, 2020, the temporary travel ban against Taiwan has been lifted. Filipinos can now travel to Taiwan.

The travel ban now includes Taiwan due to the One China Policy that is currently adopted by the country.

Temporary Travel Ban Guidelines

  1. A temporary ban on entry into the Philippines of any person regardless of nationality, except Filipino citizens and holders of Permanent Resident Visas issued by the Philippine government directly coming from China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.
  2. A temporary ban on entry into the Philippines of any person regardless of nationality, except Filipino citizens and holders of Permanent Resident Visas issued by the Philippine Government, who within 14 days immediately preceding arrival in the Philippines, has been to China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.
  3. A temporary ban on Filipinos from travel to China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.

Following this latest development, Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines have already announced the cancellation of their flights to/from Taiwan.

In support of the efforts by the Philippine government to manage the risks from the Novel Coronavirus, and the inclusion of Taiwan in the travel ban, all Cebu Pacific flights between Taipei and Manila are cancelled effective February 11 until further notice, specifically:

As of 11PMIn compliance with the Philippine government order expanding the travel ban to include Taiwan along with other areas in Greater China, we are constrained to cancel all our flights between Manila and Taipei effective IMMEDIATELY, until further notice. These cancelled flights are PR890/891 Manila-Taipei-Manila and PR894/895 Manila-Taipei-Manila.
