Last weekend, I had a chance to visit the premium wellness destination in the Queen City of the South – Maayo Hotel and Maayo Well. It was a different kind of staycation as I was able to try Maayo Well’s premium services as well as experience the warmth of Bisayan hospitality for two days.
Maayo Hotel and Maayo Well are two establishments that form Cebu’s very first 4-star hotel and wellness complex that offers top-of-the-line hotel services, world-class integrative medicine, and professional aesthetic services aimed at exemplifying the essence of what staying well truly means.
Maayo, a Cebuano word for good is a perfect word to describe the hospitality services of Maayo Hotel and Maayo Well. Once you avail of their services, you will be guaranteed of excellent customer service as well as topnotch wellness facility and medical equipment.
Maayo hotel has 229 well-appointed guestrooms located along Plaridel Street, Mandaue City, near the Marcelo Fernan Bridge about 15-20 minutes away from Mactan Cebu International Airport. It features a rooftop infinity pool overlooking a panoramic view of the cityscape, spacious rooms with Western and Eastern influences, a wellness gym, a lobby lounge and a rooftop pocket garden with a jogging trail and yoga space. Book a room now!
Aside from the amenities mentioned above, Maayo Hotel also offers its guests with a gastronomic experience with its in-house restaurants serving both local and international dishes. Uma, an all-day dining restaurant located on the lobby floor offers specialties from the Visayas region as well as Southeast Asia. It houses the hotel’s breakfast buffet. You should never miss their nilagang saging and camote (boiled banana and sweet potato) paired with ginamos (anchovies) for your breakfast. It’s an all-time Bisaya favorite you must try!
Another dining option at Maayo Hotel is Ani, a modern restaurant located on the 16th floor (roof deck) offering contemporary cuisine with Filipino and Asian influences. I highly suggest you have your lunch at Ani and try their sumptuous offerings while enjoying the view of the city.
Adjacent to the hotel is Maayo Well, a Department of Health endorsed medical tourism facility in the Visayas. It’s a seven floor facility that houses modern outpatient clinics which offer both wellness and aesthetic services, all performed by locally and internationally trained nurses and doctors.
I got a chance to have a familiarization tour of the facility and I am impressed by the quality of service they offer. It doesn’t feel like a medical facility when you enter the building. It feels like you are in a hotel when you see their spacious lobby and waiting areas.
Maayo Well offers different types of services like Aces Eye Referral Clinic, Aesthetic Institute, Cardiovascular, Dental Services, Diabetes Care, ENT-HNS, Hemodialysis, Liver Wellness, Men’s Wellness, Nutrition Services, Physical Wellness and Rehabilitation, and Women’s Wellness.
I had a chance to try one of the Dental Services of Maayo Well and it was top-notch. I like how friendly the person from the reception who accommodated me immediately when I arrived. I must say the service exceeded my expectations. It was my first service with Maayo Well and it was really a good start. I am happy with the service as well as the result of my teeth whitening service.

I was supposed to try Aqua Yoga but I lacked time, unfortunately. It looks really interesting as I had a glimpse of the Aqua Yoga session when I was to have my Movement Wellness. I’d probably should try it next time when I visit Maayo Well again.

The movement wellness was my favorite experience of all the services I’ve tried at Maayo Well. Styx, the physical therapist who attended me was able to do something with my mobility issues with the stretching and exercises he advised me to do. He also used a blading technology which helped ease the muscle tension around my chest, back and legs. I highly recommend this service. Plus, as of this writing, Maayo Well still offers FREE Biomechanical Assessment which will help you find out if you are using your joints and muscles incorrectly and learn which exercises or movements you should avoid to prevent injuries.

Another service I tried at Maayo Well was Nutrition Wellness. I know I am not eating healthy stuff and it feels like I should change the way I eat really soon. It’s not a surprise I found out I am overweight cause I really am. The nutritionist who assisted me gave me a diet meal plan which is a good start for me to start eating right.

Exilis Facial Treatment
Maayo Well’s Exilis skin treatment reduces fat and results in skin tightening all over the body. I’ve tried their facial skin tightening and it was a surprisingly relaxing experience. The procedure was pain-free and non-invasive. The nurse that performed the treatment was highly trained and knows what she’s doing.
