Booking My Accommodation in Masbate with Airbnb

I’ve been wanting to try Airbnb since last year but I did not have a chance to do it. I already heard a lot of good feedback from my friends who already tried booking with Airbnb so I was really looking forward to experience it.

Few days ago, I visited the province of Masbate. Since the province is not really a known tourist destination, I had a little difficulty in checking for accommodation that would suit my budget and taste. I was planning to visit Ticao Island so I tried Airbnb’s listing. I was surprised to stumble upon a resort that looked good based on the traveler reviews and photos provided by the host. Without any hesitation, I reserved a room at Ticao Island Resort.

After about 24 hours, I got an email that my booking was confirmed. I was already in Biliran Province when I booked it so it was critical that I get a confirmed booking otherwise I got no other place to stay in the island.

On my check in day, the host of the property called and informed me that there was no boat going to the island due to the Gale warning issued by PAGASA. I was already in Bulan, Sorsogon when she called so I immediately went to the port and confirmed that boat trips were suspended due to bad weather. I got worried because I already got a confirmed booking and I already paid for it, luckily, the host agreed to move my booking for the next day.

The day after, the Gale warning was lifted so I left Bulan, Sorsogon and took the first trip to Ticao Island. I took a habalhabal from the Ticao Pier to the resort. Upon arriving at the resort I was greeted with a friendly smile from the staff and a welcome drink.

It was indeed a great experience booking with Airbnb. I had a great time at Ticao Island Resort. The staff were nice, the food was good and there were a lot of activities to do in the resort. If only I could stay for another day, then I would have extended my stay but I was really on a tight schedule so I left the resort as planned. I will be back soon and I’ll book through Airbnb once again.
