A Saturday of Everything that Flies

17th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

It was an awesome Saturday at the 17th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Clark, Pampanga. I did not plan to go there but when I read an article about it I decided to try it. It was a great decision. I had so much fun.

I left my home about 4:30AM and headed straight to the Victory Liner terminal in Pasay City. I thought there was a bus passing through Dau in in Mabalacat, Pampanga but to my dismay, there wasn’t. Good thing there were buses passing through San Fernando City, so I took it. I was quite lucky since there was only one seat available and the bus was about to leave.

I arrived in San Fernando City past 7AM because there was an accident along the road. It was my first time to set foot in the city so I did not know how to get a ride from there going to Clark. Luckily, I saw a lady and approached her and asked for direction. I was actually close to the jeep terminal and the jeep was going straight to the Main Gate of Clark Airfield which was my planned destination.

I reached the main gate terminal about 8:10AM and was fortunate that there were actually a lot of jeep passing through the venue of the fiesta. The traffic approaching the venue was so heavy. It took us more than an hour to finally reach the venue.

Since I was already late, I was not able to witness the hot air balloon show in the morning so I decided to stay there the whole day and waited for the evening hot air balloon show. I was not bored as there were lots of activities and food and drinks were everywhere. It was a hot day yet I had so much fun.

When the sunset was approaching, I was getting more excited. Participants of the hot air balloon fiesta were already preparing for the show. The wind was not cooperating, it was a bit strong that caused delays. Then , SM started to blow their balloon and the crowd went ecstatic. Then another one followed and unfortunately the wind was getting stronger so the hot air balloon show was cancelled. I was able to see three hot air balloons… not bad after all.
