Ho Chi Minh City is the last stop of my 15-day backpacking trip around South East Asia. It was such an awesome experience roaming around Saigon. The food was great and the people were so friendly. I was lucky I was able to meet a couple of friends during my stay in Ho Chi Minh City. I was traveling solo so finding new friends was amazing. I joined my new friends in cruising the Mekong River. I must say, it was one of the most memorable experience I have had during my first backpacking trip.
How to go to Vietnam from Cambodia?
Ho Chi Minh City also known as Saigon is only about 5-6 hours away from Phnom Penh – Cambodia’s capital city. A lot of hostels in Phnom Penh offer bus tickets to Vietnam. You can arrange your bus tickets with them and normally the bus company van will pick you up at your hostel. If not, take a tuktuk from your hostel to bring you to the bus terminal.
There are a lot of bus companies plying this route so you do not have to worry about bus schedules. The earlier you leave the better. If you belong to the ASEAN community, you will not have to worry about your visa. I am a Filipino citizen so I didn’t have to worry about getting visa a the border. If you need to get a visa, you can either get them at the border or you may arrange it with a travel agency in Phnom Penh.
This journey will cost you around $13 one-way and travel time is around 5-6 hours.
